The Meet

It's really really cool to have a support group.

When I first started this idea that maybe I could actually do this for a living and that maybe people would actually like my music, it's hard to book shows, be a One Man Band, and have 3 people show up. That's where all of these guys come in. This is my team, and committed family.

First, I am extremely lucky to have an entire band.

Danny Watson: Electric- man, this guy is really something. I have been playing with him since the first day I met him. Literally. He was put onto my weekend in the Worship Band. The rest is history. We've now been playing together for 2 years now, and I've got to tell you- he has grown from a kid in high school wanting to play some guitar, to a passionate professional musician.

Matt Evans- Acoustic- This was a random, not-expected intersection between him and I. I probably had know Matt for an entire year before he even told me he played guitar. On top of that, he's freaking good.

Chad Gagnon- Bass/Keyboards- If there was a modern Mozart was alive today, it's Chad. Literally a prodigy. He plays bass, electric, keys, drums, and sings. He also is included and wanted in a lot of bands. I'm blessed he likes to spend his energy and time with the LoganSandBand once and awhile.

Mikey Evans- Aux. Percussion- I wish I could have been this good at anything in high school. Not only is Mikey graduating at 16, but he plays percussion, mixes sound, and oversights production at the church like he's 26.

Larry Handley- Drums- I've got to say, I was most nervous about finding the right drummer. After digging into the search, I was in shock to find out that not only is my girlfriends Dad an excellent father and weatherman (Channel 9 WCPO Cincinnati), but an incredible drummer. Though he does not consider himself a drummer (it's more of a hobby), he could be a studio musician easily.


On top of this great band, I have supporters else-where. Hunter Fredrick is my main Public Relations Coordinator. He is on top of things before I can think of them. He is now working on the release party, and all of our "media relationships" with fans, followers, and of course, bloggers. We also have a team of highly skilled communication leaders, who are spreading the word, looking for venues for the future, and are figuring out designs from Posters to T-shirts.


The first meeting was back in November, but everyone seems to be on board. They're all doing a great job so far. I can feel the kinetic energy in the air.

The Official First Post.

Well, here we go. Are you ready?

Let me introduce myself. I'm Logan Sand. I'm a native of the great Cincinnati, OH, and I've lived here all my life. I grew up being that kid- the "Experimenter", never knowing my true passion, and always missing something. Athletics never we're my thing... baseball was decent, soccer was horrible. Arts were cool, though, my stick people didn't really look like a Rembrandt. School? Eh, growing up it was all over the spectrum, but mostly B's and C's. What can I say? I was your typical average Joe student.

Though something always caught my attention... the sweet world of music.

I remember listening to "American Pie", and if you listen closely, you can hear that beautiful piano playing, using up the fill space in the background. I went to lessons immediately, with Annette Woods. For almost a decade (2000-2009) I went every week, filling my brain with new terms such as, "arpeggio" and "3/4th's time". Though it never dawned on me until my middle school years that this would become, and is my passion.

7th grade to the very last day of my teenage career I was involved in choirs, from District to Show Choir. We would travel all over to various competitions, and on the way back from a competition, I will never forget a great friend of mine, Colin Dyer wrote some words, and for some reason, it dawned on me right there in the middle of an open road on a charter bus to put a melody to it. I stayed up all night, writing the melody down by ear, then adding chords. By 4 A.M., something in me came alive. A beast I wouldn't know about until my Freshman year.

High School = crap. There isn't a way around it, people are mean (puberty), and maybe a few like you. They may act like your friends, but you'll probably only talk to 3 people from high school after. As for me, Freshman year seemed never-ending, and the way I vented and got by through good and bad? My music. I wrote, played, cried, and sang all at the same time. What a year...

Anyways, I got involved with my Church here in Cincinnati, and joining the worship team and through a few connections I met Rick Brantley. Now, how do I explain the talent and wisdom of this man? Indescribable. His love for music was nothing like I'd ever seen before. Come to find out, not only does this man ROCK, but he's a music producer. He listened to my work (after I bravely told him about my songs), and we decided to cut an album.

The recording experience for me was interesting. I got to learn so much, though I failed a lot. Oh man, was it awful. When listening back to some of the vocal recordings I sounded like Louis Armstrong in a car accident, combined with Ethel Merman. But through it all I became experienced and become part of this crazy life: The Music Industry.

When listening to "Like it or Not", the album I released in 2006, it sounds... immature. REALLY immature, vocally, lyrically, even the setup of the songs musically. But hey, I was 16, the songs are great for the demographic. The recording is immaculate, and the musicians are wonderful (studio musicians). But I knew I needed something more.

That's where this Blog, my Facebook, Myspace, and everything else having to do with Mass-Media communications comes in. From 2008, I've been writing songs and into 2009 I recorded them for another opportunity. This time it is different. This time I want to make something special. This time I want to break down all walls and show my passion through my music. When it comes down to it, it's not about the money, or the people who hate it, or like it, or that I sound like Ben Folds, or that I have a goofy hair-do and I like to put "bitch" and "shitty" and "dumbass" in my songs. It's to enjoy every beat in every moment. So, this new album is called "New Day"- a new outlook on my music and my passion.

So where do we go from here? A CD release in Cincinnati (January 22nd, 2010 by the way...) A tour of the midwest in July. Maybe even a year off of college. who knows.
